Chromebook Checkout Information
Each student pays a yearly technology fee and both students and parents sign agreements about their responsibilities. A Chromebook with a matching charger are checked out to each student and the student is responsible for their care and bringing them charged to each class every day.
Chromebook Troubleshooting and Repair
Always try this first:
1. Shut down your Chromebook and restart it.
2. If that doesn't work, try removing your account and re-adding it.
If something is wrong with your Chromebook that those two steps don't fix, please bring it to Ms. Schwanke in the Library. If you are not at school and having issues, you may email at cschwanke@tps501.org.
Ms. Schwanke will troubleshoot the problems with with you and try to find a simple solution.
If it needs more work, the technician will look at the Chromebook and determine the cost of repair.
Parents will be contacted to let them know the cost of repair and a bill will be added to the student's account. Repairs with a cost to the student must be paid for the Chromebook to be returned to the student. In the meantime, the Chromebook will be used at school but administration may request that the Chromebook remains in 9th hour overnight.
If no cost is assessed, the Chromebook will be returned once repaired.
If your charger is lost or broken, check with Ms. Schwanke. You will need to pay a $20 for a replacement in the office. Bring the receipt to the Library and Ms. Schwanke will get you a new one. There is no way to identify your charger if it is lost, so your best bet is to charge at home every day and keep the charger safely at home to avoid paying another $20!
** Please don't wait to see if a problem will fix itself. It probably won't, and often a small problem becomes a larger (and more expensive) problem the longer it goes unchecked.**
Chromebook Care
Your Chromebook is a tool - not a toy. It will be very helpful to you if you take good care of it. It is your responsibility to keep it in good working condition!
If you're concerned, please check the Acceptable Use Policy (2935).
Check out the linked Slide presentation for more tips and information.
USE COMMON SENSE - don't break it, and don't risk breaking it!
Lost Chromebooks
Yikes! How did you lose a whole Chromebook??
Contact Ms. Schwanke in the Library right away. If it has not been found in 24 hours, we can have it "bricked" so that it can't be used, and hopefully anyone trying to use it will catch on and return it. If it doesn't show up, the student is responsible for the full replacement cost of the Chromebook.
